Automation, digitalization and platforms are rapidly changing the economic systems and the world of work. In South Korea, especially the automotive industry and the platform economy are undergoing a rapid transformation creating new challenges for both companies and workers.
The dynamic economic development of South Korea was mainly driven by export-oriented industrial policy and large conglomerates. However, social development indicators have not been able to keep pace with economic progress. Thus, promoting social justice and gender equality remains an important task.
As an advanced industrial country, South Korea is a large emitter of greenhouse gases. However, with the recognition of the importance of the climate change, South Korea has started to develop sustainable climate and energy policies.
