아시아는 역사적으로 세계/역내 강대국 간의 경쟁에 큰 영향을 받았습니다. 21세기 아시아의 지정학은 다양한 차원에서 전개될 것입니다. 또한 경쟁, 갈등, 협력이 동시에 이루어지는 복잡한 패턴이 나타날 것입니다. 미중 경쟁 격화, 세계 공급망 재편, 코로나19 대유행은 이미 아시아의 지정학적 환경을 뒤흔들고 있습니다. 미중 경쟁이 격화되면서 한국은 전통적 안보동맹국인 미국과 가장 중요한 교역국인 중국 사이에서 어떠한 입장을 취해야 할지 점점 큰 압박을 받고 있습니다.
한국은 아시아의 새로운 지정학적 환경에서 어떠한 입장을 취하게 될 것인가? 미중 경제 디커플링이 한국 경제에 미치는 영향은 무엇인가? 미중 경쟁의 격화가 남북관계와 한반도 평화 및 안보 전망에 미치는 영향은 무엇인가? 한국의 ‘신남방정책’은 대외의존도 감소와 외교관계 다변화에 어느 정도 효과가 있을까? 한국과 독일, 유럽연합의 파트너십을 강화하는 방법은 무엇인가?
프리드리히 에버트 재단 한국사무소는 정치적 분석과 국제적 대화 지원 등을 통해 이러한 문제들에 대한 논의와 ‘아시아의 새로운 지정학’ 관련 담론 전반에 기여하고자 합니다. 또한 우리는 독일의 정치재단으로서 한국과 독일 및 유럽연합 사이의 대화와 교류를 장려하여 지정학적 현안과 협력강화 방안에 대한 논의를 촉진합니다.
